Following the recent announcements of Co-Presenting Sponsorship agreements with Canadian Tire/Jumpstart and Scotiabank, a third Canadian institution with strong ties to hockey – Tim Hortons – will once again be a Major Sponsor for Maritime NHL’ers for Kids, scheduled for July 25-26 at Nova Scotia’s Digby Pines Resort and Spa.
“I would be hard pressed to identify three corporations in Canada with deeper commitments and stronger passion for our national game than Canadian Tire, Scotiabank and Tim Hortons,”said Managing Director Chris Larsen in making the announcement. “We are proud and privileged that all three are partners in our efforts to ease the financial burdens preventing young boys and girls from pursing their hockey dreams in NB-NS-PEI.”
Tim Hortons and hockey have been synonymous since the company’s establishment by the late Toronto Maple Leafs Hall of Fame defenseman of the same name in 1964 with business partner Tatamagouche NS born Ron Joyce.
Like Maritime NHLers for Kids, Tim Hortons brings getting youth involved in the game to the forefront by virtue of their famous Timbit minor hockey program, an initiative created by a Maritimer and long time franchisee, Riverview’s Gary O’Neill, in 1982.
As part of their sponsorship role, Tim Hortons will also make a noticeable impact in Digby next month as the Timmys Coffee Truck will be on hand to provide hot and cold refreshments to all present.
